Approach to the patient with early Parkinson disease: diagnosis and management

Abstract This article presents an evidence‐based approach to the patient with newly diagnosed Parkinson disease (PD). It includes a discussion of current understanding aetio‐pathogenesis PD and clinical features, both motor non‐motor, that assist clinician in making this diagnosis. An management early stage is discussed, including emerging evidence benefits physical exercise condition, issues consider selection dopaminergic medication. The often keen know what future holds for them, as they face progressive neurodegenerative condition. While currently available medical therapies are symptomatic, rather than disease‐modifying, nature, it hoped improved will pave way disease‐modifying therapies.
